About me: Sarah McNulty

Creative. Fine Art. Visual Artist in Photography.

I would describe my Fine Art/Creative style as often painterly. I call this painting with photography, and it can include some Intentional Camera movement or adding layers of my works into the image to create this effect. This particular style is often in the form of Impressionism. Sometimes it can simply be an unusual scene, textures, shapes, or light that will give me the idea to create the artwork, this will also include some aspects of my nature photography where I enjoy being more creative.

My Journey

My love of photography really took hold when I was able to acquire my first DSLR camera which opened up a whole new world of possibility through the lens. I have a love of the Countryside, Coast and Nature and much of my work is inspired by the wonderful countryside and coastline of Dorset, along with the surrounding counties of the West Country.

I am self-taught and as my knowledge of camera systems and editing software progressed, I was able to become more creative with my photography and try different techniques. I now work with a Sony full frame camera and lenses, along with various digital software that allows me to have the additional freedom to be creative after capturing the scene with my camera. For wildlife you would often see me out and about with my Sony 100-400 mm lens which can be a little heavy to carry but worth it!

I have been in the happy position to receive some awards for my photography. The International Garden Photographer of The Year, Beauty of Plants – Collection 17. The Open Spaces Society 150th Year National Competition, DACA, WCPF Regional competitions and I also like to enter National and International Photography Salons and have gained some success with acceptances. I like to take part in Exhibitions locally and regionally and I have had work published in some local magazines. Above all I really do enjoy being creative with photography and I hope that shows through my work.
